I need a Root Canal? Why can’t I just pull my tooth?
When a patient has been diagnosed with needing a Root Canal, this means the decay it too deep within the tooth and has now reached the nerve. It is not recommended to pull the tooth because the tooth/structure is still healthy. When you pull a healthy permanent tooth the other teeth in that area will move to compensate for the open space.
Tooth Replacement Options
Whether upper arch or lower arch, the teeth above or below the missing tooth will also move up/down to utilize that new space as well. This movement creates a whole new problem and eliminates options for future dentistry. This can affect the quality of eating, creates bone loss and can be costly to the patient in the long term.
